5s for hospice!

Celebrating World Hospice & Palliative Care Day 2018

The Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa (HPCA) will be holding a 5-a-side soccer tournament to raise funds for the Association.

The action-packed tournament will consist of 16 teams that will battle it out on Saturday, 13 October at Hellenic Football Field, Greenpoint. Each team will represent one of HPCA’s member hospices in the Western Cape, giving them exposure and acknowledgement for the work that they do. Once you have registered your team, please decide from our below member hospices which one you would like to represent. Once confirmed, please email

Example: Hi, my teams name is Soccer friends and I would like to represent Boland hospice.

We’re inviting you to enter a team (or two!), and to represent one of our member hospices. The entry fee per team is R1000 (Max 8-10 players). You get to have fun, battle it out with other teams, give exposure to a hospice, plus –  the winning team stands to win R6000 plus other cool prizes!

Your support helps HPCA to ensure that HPCA member hospices can continue to deliver quality care to those in need.

Experience life in abundance

We are a hospital based palliative care organization that specialised in Organ Failure but due to need have opened our arms to everyone needing our care.

What is Boland Hospice Care and who is it for?

Boland Hospice is about you and your health.  It was founded on the need for traditional care and has evolved since it cared for its first patient in 2006.

Our history

In 1986 a nurse from Sedgefield and a doctor from Knysna started working together to help those who needed care at home.

We are a diverse team of people who seek to restore hope. Since 1997, Thembalitsha has invested in the communities of South Africa – inspiring change and offering a handup rather than a handout.
