Call for abstracts

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION HAS CLOSED.

The Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa (HPCA) is now accepting abstracts to be considered for the HPCA 2015 conference. We are inviting submissions of abstracts for oral (25 min) or poster presentations.

Abstracts should deal with issues highlighted in our themes and tracks.

Please note the following:

• Abstracts may be submitted for oral presentation (25 min) or poster presentations.
• All abstracts must be submitted via the online system, using the link on the website; e-mailed abstracts will not be accepted.
• Abstracts should be no more than 300 words.
• A summary of no more than 800 characters should be provided for the conference book.
• Presenting authors will need to provide a photograph and a bio of no more than 800 characters.
• As we will be working with tight schedules, no extensions will be provided on abstract submission deadlines.
• You will need the abstract, summary, author photograph and bio on hand when you submit your abstract online.

Abstract formats

Format for oral/poster presentation (300 words max )

• Abstract title
• Abstract theme
• Brief introduction – The aim of the project/research
• Problem statement – What is the problem / gap addressed by the project/research?
• Methodology
• Lessons learned
• Recommendations

Assessment of abstracts

Abstracts will be assessed according to the following criteria

1. Original/innovative topic
2. Relevance to comprehensive care & support/palliative care
3. Relevance to South African government strategy
4. Focus on Conference theme
5. Scientific rigor – for research-based abstracts
