Generous Donations Pays Off for Centurion Hospice

Exciting additions to the Centurion Hospice in Lyttelton is sure to attract more feet in its bid to stay afloat.

The additions include a boutique and a jewellery store, which should hopefully draw a wider clientele. This formed part of initiatives by the hospice to generate income, said marketing manager Charlotte van Coller.

The hospice takes care of terminal patients in their final days free of charge.Van Coller said donations received from the community made the boutique and the jewellery store possible. “The items brought in as donations by the public are amazing and kept in pristine condition.”Some items, mostly costume jewellery,a re not in perfect shape but we still encourage people to donate it to us. We will fix it,” she chuckled.

New activities eased the task of the hospice to light up patients’ lives.“We are taking care of patients with life-limiting and terminal illnesses, but we don’t have to go about it in a dull way,” she said.
