Garden of Remembrance

Helderberg Hospice celebrates 31 years of specialised care to the Helderberg community this year.

One of the anniversary projects we have launched is the establishment of a Garden of Remembrance, which provides a tranquil, safe space for all in the Helderberg community to visit and spend time remembering family members and friends who have passed on.

On 18 July 2016, the wonderful staff of NCC Environmental Services (Pty) Ltd, Tyris Construction, and Amandla Construction officially handed over their Mandela Day 2016 project to Helderberg Hospice – the ground preparation and landscaping of our beautiful Garden of Remembrance. Our volunteer garden team worked very hard in establishing the basic framework of this garden with a few elemental plants, and we were very excited to officially open our Garden of Remembrance to the community on 21 October 2016.

We are looking to the community to get involved with this project and we would like people to consider donating a bench, tree, plant or shrub from our recommended list in memory of their loved one. A plaque is available for purchase, which will be placed on the bench or in the garden. This will be engraved with wording of the donor’s choice.

All funds raised from the Garden will go directly towards caring for our patients. The opening hours of the garden are Mondays to Fridays from 08h30 to 16h00. You are invited to come and visit at 21 Old Stellenbosch Road, Somerset West. Please call Cheryl on 021-852 4608 for more details, or visit our website on www.helderberghospice.org.za for further information and a copy our recommended plants list.
