Members of the ‘Golden Oldies’ Seniors Group at the AGS Kerk, Alberton Noord, gathered together on Thursday, 9 November, in the church hall to welcome Sister Margi Bollman from Stepping Stone Hospice.
The group, which meets once a month under the leadership of Seniors Coordinator, Zinnia Lee, listened intently as Sr Margi talked about palliative care and the work that Stepping Stone Hospice does in the community, explaining that “we don’t just walk a path with our patients, but with their families too.” She also highlighted the many ways in which a person can volunteer at Stepping Stone, with Zinnia stressing that we can all do something to become involved in our community.
The morning culminated in a handover by the group of care parcels for the staff at hospice, as well as a monetary donation for the organization, as a heartfelt ‘thank you’ for all the work they do. The parcels and donation were made possible from funds raised at a recent High Tea event hosted by the group.
