Talking Books

As a result of an arrangement made with ‘Tape Aids for the Blind’ in Cape Town, Helderberg Hospice is excited to have a library of talking books to offer, free of charge, to all those living in the Helderberg basin.

We are positive that ’Talking Books’ will make a significant difference to the lives of people with compromised sight, as well as anyone who is ill in bed and can no longer hold a book comfortably, or  for those who spend a lot of time on the road.

We have a wide selection of genres of both English and Afrikaans books, in the hope that there will be something for everyone.  In order to play the books, you will need an MP3 compatible C.D. player, or a computer, laptop or D.V.D. player.  (Please note that the books do not play on a conventional C.D. player.)

Follow this simple procedure to borrow a ‘book’:

  •       Please call at the offices of Helderberg Hospice, (21 Old Stellenbosch Road, Somerset West) between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
  •       The contact person is Wilma Tibble who will assist all-comers.
  •       Please bring a copy of your ID as well as your contact details.

We at Helderberg Hospice look forward to making a tangible difference to the life of our community with this innovative project.
