East Rand Palliative Care

East Rand Palliative Care

What are the achievements that you are most proud of?

Our most recent achievement of which we are proud is the successful rebranding of our organisation. On 1 March this year Hospice East Rand officially embraced its new name – East Rand Palliative Care. We feel this new name far better reflects the work we do and without the fear and sense of trepidation that is often associated with the name “hospice”. We have also submitted an application to get a Trade Mark on the name.

What are the obstacles that you may have had to overcome to achieve these?

The obstacles we had to overcome had to do mainly with the very slow pace when applying for the necessary approval from government departments and other legal entities.

What would you still like to achieve?
  • Firstly, with the new name better reflecting the scope of care we offer we aim to increase our patient numbers and extend our service of palliative care to a greater number of people.
  • Secondly, as an accredited training site, we would like to secure funding to be able to once again offer 20 learners bursaries for the 11 month QCTO accredited occupational certificate course (NQF3) in homebased care.
What assistance would assist you in achieving this?

Sponsorship for 20 learners to enroll for the above course would assist us to achieve the above goal.
