Inter-disciplinary team work together to restore hope
Julie Mabe is 26 years old. She was contracted under HospiceWits care when she was 19 years old. Julie was diagnosed with HIV and she had drug resistant Mono TB. She was bedridden, wasted and unable to walk to the nearest health facility for her daily intramuscular injections. The HospiceWits inter-disciplinary team of the Homecare Nurse, Community Careworker and the Social Worker offered support to her. The family was educated about simple techniques for preventing household infections. Julie received daily intramuscular injections (supplied from the local clinic) from HospiceWits’ Homecare Nurse until the disease was totally eradicated. She gained weight and is now much improved, and is looking forward to return to the stage as she is a musician and loves singing.
