The Lace Up for Cancer event which started in 2012 has successfully raised awareness and funds for the collaborating cancer-fighting organisations within South Africa. Which started off with less than 80 participants in 2012 has escalated to over 3500 participants in 2016 and over 7000 in 2019!

The six charities partaking have all dedicated time and effort into the fight against cancer and none would be where they are without the public and the constant support they get from their respective communities. This time they’re coming together and are calling on their long-time supporters to join in the fun and spread the love.

The race will allow people who have been affected by cancer, whether it be survivors or those who lost a loved one, to come together and share their stories while also familiarising themselves with the different charities that offer support in times of need.

Lace Up For Cancer is an event intended to raise awareness and funds for these six cancer-focused organisations:

HPCA – To promote quality in life, dignity in death and support in bereavement for all living with a life-threatening illness by supporting member hospices and partner organisations.

Love Your Nuts – The goal is to raise awareness of testicular cancer by educating communities about the ‘rarely spoken about’ cancer that often remains undetected in young adults due to the diverse society in South Africa.

CHOC – Supporting children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders, and their families; improving early detection and facilitating effective treatment.

People Living With Cancer – Creating a national support structure for people living with cancer, cancer survivors and their families across South Africa by building innovative partnerships that make a difference in the cancer arena.

Sunflower Fund – The only organisation in South Africa dedicated to creating awareness, educating the public and handling the registration process for people to join the South African Bone Marrow Registry.

CANSA – The main purpose is to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa.
