What are the achievements that you are most proud of?
  • This year we celebrate our 40th anniversary.
  • We are implementing an entire digital migration
  • Our patient numbers have grown by 30% since 2021.

OUR 40TH ANNIVERSARY
We have evolved from founder Pat Pigeon and a few passionate volunteers caring for our community from the boot of her car, to achieving COHSASA re-accreditation at 5-star level which recognised the hard work and dedication from our staff in offering the highest standard of hospice and palliative care.

1. What are the obstacles that you may have had to overcome to achieve these?

Achieving the highest standards in accreditation is costly, and investment in infrastructure and staffing to maintain these standards places additional pressure on our already burdened finances.

2. What would you still like to achieve?

We would like to see continued growth in our patient numbers. Research shows that there are still many patients who don’t get the care they need do to a lack of awareness and resource availability.

3. What assistance would assist you in achieving this?

Funding.

A DIGITAL MIGRATION
We are implementing an entire digital migration including electronic health record keeping and online referrals, freeing up our clinical staff from onerous manual record keeping.

1. What are the obstacles that you may have had to overcome to achieve these?

Keeping staff updated in an increasingly digital environment requires ongoing training, time and resources, all of which are in short supply in the non-profit sector.

2. What would you still like to achieve?

This growth goes hand in hand with funding, so we’d like to grow our funding to support this growth in patient numbers.

AN INCREASE IN PATIENT NUMBERS
Our patient numbers have grown by 30% since 2021.

1. What are the obstacles that you may have had to overcome to achieve these?

Ensuring that our services continues to grow and reach the most needy people in our community, often who cannot afford basic medical services, is a financial investment from hospice that is resource intensive.

2. What would you still like to achieve?

This growth goes hand in hand with funding, so we’d like to grow our funding to support this growth in patient numbers.
