Ladies of Hope

What are the achievements that you are most proud of?
  • Growth in Our Hospice Services
  • Integration into Hospice Care at Ladies of Hope

GROWTH IN OUR HOSPICE SERVICES
Our hospice organisation has expanded to provide care both in patients’ homes and within the wider community. We cater to individuals with various terminal illnesses. Our inpatient unit plays a crucial role in this effort, offering support and care for those who have no one else to assist them.

1. What are the obstacles that you may have had to overcome to achieve these?

We have encountered difficulties with some family members who are reluctant to help our facility provide proper care for their loved ones. These family members often do not bring essential items that the patient may need, such as medication, clothing, diapers, and personal utensils.

2. What would you still like to achieve?

The Ladies of Hope inpatient unit aims to increase the number of patients admitted while improving the facility to accommodate this growth. To achieve this, we need more doctors on staff and additional equipment to assist with patient transfers and mobility.

3. What assistance would assist you in achieving this?
  •  Increase funding for facilities, staff, and resources.
  • Improve infrastructure to create dedicated spaces for palliative care.
  • Recruit and train more staff in palliative care practices.
  • Enhance coordination between public and private healthcare providers.
  • Provide education on cultural competence to cater to diverse urban populations.
  • Establish better referral networks for timely access to IPUs.
  • Raise public awareness about palliative care through campaigns and outreach.
  • Conduct research to identify gaps in care and improve service delivery.
  • Advocate for policy changes to prioritise palliative care in urban areas.
