What are the achievements that you are most proud of?
The unit has been operational since June 2023 and we could assist 56 patients for different periods successfully. Families are always grateful for the type of care and communication they receive from us.
What are the obstacles that you may have had to overcome to achieve these?
Months of no patients, enough qualified staff and patients without adequate funds were challenging.
What would you still like to achieve?
To remain operational in challenging financial times and continue to provide excellent all-round care and advice to patients, as well as their families.
What assistance would assist you in achieving this?
DSD funding would help & more referrals from doctors and facilities. Some patients received via referral from step-downs come very late in the patients’ journey and patients then last only a day before they pass on. It makes it difficult to provide good care to the patient, but more so to help prepare the families of the patients for what lies ahead.
